Jets Sign Breece Hall to Big Deal

The New York Jets and Breece Hall agreed on a three-year, $45.75 million contract with $29 million guaranteed.

Hall becomes the third-highest-paid running back by annual money, behind the Eagles’ Saquon Barkley ($20.6 million) and the 49ers’ Christian McCaffrey ($19 million).

The deal does not include any guaranteed money in the third year of the contract, so it is essentially a two-year, $29 million deal.

Hall was drafted in the second round by the Jets in 2022. He has consistently been one of the team’s top offensive weapons during his first four years.

Hall topped the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the first time last season. He gained 1,065 yards on 243 carries and scored four rushing touchdowns.

    Knicks Sweep 76ers

The Knicks equalled a playoffs record with 11 first-quarter three-pointers and piled up a record-equalling 18 in the first half, setting an early tone on the way to their seventh straight victory of these playoffs.

They finished with a playoff record-equalling 25 treys as they polished off a 4-0 sweep of the 76ers in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference semi-finals and reach the conference finals for the second straight year after not going that deep in the playoffs for 24 straight seasons.

Both the left- and right-field walls will be moved in nine to 10 feet, beginning close to the foul poles and tapering toward center field, which will stay at 410 feet from home plate, while the wall height will be lowered from 10 feet to 8 1/2 feet in most places.

A team-provided diagram showed the left- and right-field corners at 347 and 344 feet, respectively, nine feet shorter than their current dimensions. The left and right field walls will also be nine feet closer at 364 feet.

Kauffman Stadium is already considered to be an above-average offensive park because of its massive outfield, which promotes doubles and triples, but has suppressed home runs, which has led to hitters changing their approaches in road games. The Royals had previously moved their fences in 10 feet between 1995 and 2003, which saw a spike in home run totals, before returning to their original dimensions in 2004.

The complex will feature a Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, a Hard Rock Live concert center, multiple restaurants and bars, a retail store, and a 25-acre public park.

    Massive 2,400-Carat Diamond Found

The diamond is believed to be the second-largest ever discovered from a mine, following the Cullinan Diamond, which was found in South Africa in 1905 and weighed 3,106 carats. Some of the gems cut from the Cullinan Diamond are now part of the British Crown Jewels.

Lucara Diamond Corp. used X-ray technology to recover the “exceptional” rough diamond, which was found intact.

“We are ecstatic about the recovery of this extraordinary 2,492-carat diamond,” said Lucara’s CEO.

The newly discovered diamond will be presented to the world at the office of Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi, who will be one of the first to view it. Botswana is the second-biggest producer of diamonds and has unearthed all the world’s biggest stones in recent years.

    Aaron Rodgers Returning to Steelers?

The Pittsburgh Steelers don’t have an answer yet from Aaron Rodgers on what his plans are, but their new coach is well aware of the kind of story it would be.

Mike McCarthy, who coached Rodgers with the Green Bay Packers from 2006 to 2018, is all for a reunion story. “Yes, it’d be a great story,” McCarthy.

Kevin Harlan asked the first-year Steelers coach about a possible reunion with Rodgers.

“I would love to tell everybody there is breaking news,” McCarthy said. “It’s really cool to see Aaron at 42 and all that he’s been able to accomplish.”

Last season was Rodgers’ first with the Steelers, and he helped them to the AFC North title. Shortly after the season, coach Mike Tomlin stepped down and was replaced by McCarthy.

  • Wendy’s Closing More Restaurants

    Wendy’s Closing More Restaurants

Wendy’s gave more details on plans to close hundreds of restaurants in the U.S. in an effort to focus on value and boost low sales.

The fast food giant previously reported sales declining 11.3% domestically and confirmed plans to close many locations. The plan is part of Wendy’s ‘Project Fresh’ which was “designed to revitalize the brand, reignite growth, and accelerate profitability.”

Wendy’s will make improvements to some of the struggling stores, which may vary between the addition of new technology and equipment, a transfer of ownership or shutting down the stores entirely.

Numerous fast food chains have struggled to attract consumers.
