Raiders Over Jets

There were a lot of field goals, but the Las Vegas Raiders came up at just the right moments on Sunday night.
The Las Vegas Raiders, thanks to a late interception from Robert Spillane in the red zone, beat the New York Jets 16-12 in their “Sunday Night Football” matchup at Allegiant Stadium.
With the Jets driving and seemingly poised to score a game-winning touchdown, Spillane intercepted Zach Wilson and ran it back 25 yards. That sealed the four-point win for Las Vegas.
Neither team found the end zone until the first few moments of the fourth quarter, which made for a very slow start in Las Vegas. After six combined field goals, rookie Aidan O’Connell hit tight end Michael Mayer for a 7-yard touchdown in the corner of the end zone to finally push the Raiders ahead.

Wilson went 23-for-38 for 263 yards with an interception in the loss for the Jets. Wilson was their leading rusher, too, with 54 yards on four carries. Garrett Wilson had 93 receiving yards on nine catches.
O’Connell went 16-of-27 for 153 yards with a touchdown and an interception in the win for the Raiders. Josh Jacobs had 116 rushing yards on 27 carries, and Davante Adams had 86 yards on six catches.

Cowboys Roll Over Giants

The New York Giants are proving one thing every single week: it can always get worse.
Dak Prescott has now won 12 consecutive starts against the Giants, throwing for four touchdowns and over 400 yards and adding a rushing score. The only thing that added up for Big Blue in Sunday’s eventual 49-17 loss were injuries.

The Dallas Cowboys (6-3) entered Week 10 against the New York Giants (2-8), as a 17.5-point favorite, making them the heaviest favorite in a single game this season. The Cowboys made oddsmakers look smart, steamrolling the Giants for the second time this season.

Television cameras captured several instances where the Giants’ frustration was apparently boiling over.
Brian Daboll and Saquon Barkley had an animated conversation on the sideline early in the game, according to FOX sideline reporter Tom Rinaldi, who talked about it on the broadcast. A heated Darius Slayton had to be calmed by teammates Matt Barkley and Sterling Shepard, and then Daboll.
- Tommy DeVito finished 14 of 27 passing for 86 yards with 2 touchdowns and an interception. He was sacked five times.
- Saquon Barkley carried 13 times for 66 yards.
- Lawrence Cager and Sterling Shepard caught touchdown passes for the Giants. Darius Slayton had three receptions for 21 yards.

Jets Fall to Chargers 27-6

The Los Angeles Chargers shut down Zach Wilson and the New York Jets to grab a 27-6 win at MetLife Stadium on Monday night. That win snapped a three-game win streak by the Jets, and brought the Chargers back to 4-4 on the season after a rough start to the year.

The Chargers scored twice right out of the gate to build up a 14-0 lead in the opening quarter, which was enough to lead them to the 21-point win. Derius Davis ran back a punt return 87 yards for a touchdown to get the night started not even two minutes into the game.
The Jets offense, meanwhile, wasn’t doing much of anything. They settled for just two field goals on the night, and couldn’t get down the field at all. The one time they mounted a very promising drive, Wilson was sacked twice and the Jets had to settle for a 46-yard field goal in the third quarter.

Justin Herbert went 16-of-30 for 136 yards for the Chargers. Keenan Allen had 77 yards on eight receptions.Allen surpassed 10,000 career receiving yards in the win, too, and had a ridiculous grab in what was easily the highlight of the night.
Wilson went 33-of-49 for 263 yards in the loss for the Jets. Breece Hall ran for 50 yards on 16 carries, and Garrett Wilson had 80 yards on seven receptions.

Giants QB Daniel Jones Suffers Knee Injury

The Giants’ ugly 30-6 loss to the Raiders could have massive ramifications, as Daniel Jones, Evan Neal, Jalin Hyatt and Micah McFadden all left with injuries or were examined by trainers during the game.
Jones’ absence would be the most costly one, as the Giants fell to 2-7 and slipped further away from any postseason hope. Tommy DeVito completed 15-of-20 passes for 175 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions after replacing Jones. Saquon Barkley rushed for 90 yards on 16 carries.

The Raiders, though, earned a win in Antonio Pierce’s debut as interim head coach, with Josh Jacobs scoring two touchdowns while quarterback Aidan O’Connell — taking over for the benched Jimmy Garoppolo — sparked an offense that’d been stagnant for most of the season. They moved to 4-5 in a competitive AFC.
