Chiefs vs 49ers in Super Bowl

The Chiefs will be relying on their explosive offense to carry them to victory, while the 49ers’ strong defense and talented roster of skill players will be looking to make a statement. With so much at stake in this highly anticipated rematch of Super Bowl 54, a suspense-filled ending is almost inevitable.

San Francisco Ends Green Bay’s Season

After spending all regular season as front-runners, the Niners (13-5) needed to come from behind for a change, and Brock Purdy and McCaffrey did just enough on the last drive to send San Francisco to its third straight NFC championship game.

Purdy went 6 for 7 for 47 yards on the decisive drive, converting a third down to Brandon Aiyuk and then a 17-yarder to Chris Conley.

McCaffrey finished it off with his run on third-and-short and the 49ers’ defense held on from there, with Dre Greenlaw intercepting Jordan Love for the second time to seal San Francisco’s fifth straight playoff win over Green Bay (10-9).

Dodgers Get Ohtani for $700 Million!

Shohei Ohtani is moving just 31 miles for his next work address, but also into another stratosphere.

The most closely followed free agency in MLB history concluded Saturday when the two-way star reached agreement with the Dodgers on a 10-year contract worth a record $700 million.

Ohtani announced his decision in a statement.

“To all the fans and everyone involved in the baseball world, I apologize for taking so long to come to a decision,” Ohtani said. “I have decided to choose the Dodgers as my next team.”

Ohtani’s deal includes “unprecedented” deferrals — including the majority of his salary, according to sources — allowing the Dodgers the financial flexibility for other moves.

Ohtani, 29, had no shortage of suitors, including at one point the Mets.

Ohtani, with the Angels, won his second American League MVP award last season after posting a .304/.412/.654 slash line with 44 homers and 95 RBIs in 135 games.

Tom Brady Praises His Former Coach

Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady shared a tribute to his longtime former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick following the team’s announcement to part ways with the six-time Super Bowl champion.

“I’m incredibly grateful to have played for the best coach in the history of the NFL,” Brady wrote in an Instagram post. “He was a great leader for the organization, and for all of the players who played for him. We accomplished some amazing things over a long period of time, many of which will be hard to replicate. He worked every day to help us achieve the ultimate goal, in the ultimate team sport.”

“He set the tone for the organization, to never Falter in the face of adversity, and to do what we could do, and what was in our control, which was to go out and DO OUR JOB.”

“I could never have been the player I was without you Coach Belichick. I am forever grateful. And I wish you the best of luck in whatever you choose next.”

  • Giants Upset Eagles 27-10

    Giants Upset Eagles 27-10

In front of a sparse crowd on a wet and wintry afternoon, the Giants took a 24-0 lead into halftime at MetLife Stadium and held on for a 27-10 victory that ended a stretch of futility against the rival Eagles.

The Eagles pulled quarterback Jalen Hurts and several starters in the second half. Saquon Barkley, in what could be the curtain call on his six-year stay with the Giants, rushed for two touchdowns.

This ended the Giants’ five-game losing streak to the Eagles in a series that had the Eagles winning 17 of the past 20 games.

The regime of general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll had been 0-5 against the Eagles and 0-8 against the Cowboys and Eagles, the top teams in the NFC East.

This rare victory allowed the Giants to snap a three-game losing streak down the stretch of the season and give their beleaguered fans who decided to show up something to feel good about in an otherwise dreary season.

  • Jets Snap 15-Game Skid vs Patriots 17-3

Jets Snap 15-Game Skid vs Patriots 17-3

With snow covering the field and flurries swirling throughout Gillette Stadium, Greg Zuerlein kicked three field goals to help the New York Jets (7-10) earn their first victory over the New England Patriots since an overtime win on Dec. 27, 2015.

Breece Hall rushed for 174 yards and a late touchdown and the Jets snapped a 15-game losing streak against the Patriots with a 17-3 win Sunday in what could have been Belichick’s final game with the franchise for which he hoisted six Lombardi trophies.

Bill Belichick says he put everything he had into this season and still enjoys coaching.

But following the end to his most tenuous season as an NFL coach, it remained very much unclear whether he’ll ever do it again for the Patriots.

“A disappointing year for all of us — players, coaches, staffers, the entire organization,” Belichick said through a scratchy voice after fighting a cold this week.

“That’s all I have to say about that right now, because that’s all there is to talk about.”
