QB Jalen Hurts Is The Highest Paid QB

The Philadelphia Eagles agreed to a massive contract extension for star quarterback Jalen Hurts, giving him a new deal for five years and a whopping $255 million, according to multiple reports, making him the highest-paid player in NFL history at an average of $51 million per year.
The contract includes $179.3 million in guarantees and a no-trade clause.
Hurts, 24, had a dominant season for the Eagles in 2022, helping lead Philadelphia to the Super Bowl.
The NFC Pro Bowler passed for 3,701 yards, 22 touchdowns and six interceptions in the regular season, while also adding 760 yards rushing and 13 TDs on the ground.
The Alabama and Oklahoma product also had a sensational Super Bowl, completing 71 percent of his passes for 301 yards and a touchdown with no turnovers in the game – which the Eagles barely lost to the Chiefs, 38-35.

NFL’s First Openly Gay Active Player Retires

Carl Nassib, who made history as the NFL’s first openly gay active player, is retiring after seven seasons.
The defensive end, 30, played in 99 regular season games for the Browns, Buccaneers and Raiders, recording 25.5 sacks, 187 tackles and four forced fumbles.
“Football has given me more than I ever could have imagined,” Nassib wrote in an Instagram post. “I can truly hang up my helmet for the last time knowing I gave it everything I had.”
Nassib came out as gay before the 2021 season when he was a member of the Raiders. He appeared in 13 games that year. Former Missouri defensive end Michael Sam came out as gay before being drafted by the Rams in the seventh round of the 2014 draft, but he never played in an NFL game.
The Browns made the 6-foot-7 Nassib a third-round pick out of Penn State in 2016. He played two seasons with Cleveland before joining the Buccaneers, where he turned in his best statistical years. His 6.5 sacks with Tampa Bay in 2018 were a career high, and he followed that up with six sacks and a career-best 34 tackles in 2019.
Nassib then spent the 2020 and 2021 seasons with the Raiders before returning to the Buccaneers last year. He appeared in 13 games with Tampa Bay in 2022, recording 3.5 sacks.

Jets Beat Giants in OT, 13-10

The Jets pulled off a stunning overtime victory against their crosstown-rival Giants on Sunday.
The Jets looked like they were going to lose with less than two minutes to play in regulation but a missed field goal by the Giants gave them new life and they found a way to win 13-10 in overtime.
The Jets had seemingly lost when, down 10-7, Zach Wilson was sacked on fourth-and-10 with 1:33 left in regulation.
But Giants kicker Graham Gano missed a 35-yard field goal wide left and gave the Jets life, leaving them down only three instead of six and needing a touchdown.
Wilson then found Garrett Wilson for a 29-yard gain and followed that up with another 29-yard pass to Allen Lazard.

The Jets spiked the ball with one second left in regulation.
Greg Zuerlein did what Gano could not and kicked a 35-yard field goal to tie the game 10-10 and send it into overtime.
The Jets would stop the Giants on the first possession of overtime and Greg Zuerlein kicked a 33-yarder for the improbable victory.
It was a strange game that featured barely any offense and a slew of injuries to both teams.

Giants Defeat Commanders 14-7

The New York Giants and Washington Commanders fought a miscue-filled battle on Sunday, but the Giants emerged victorious in the end, 14-7.
A late red zone stand preserved the win for New York, earning them their second win of the season. The Giants did almost everything in their power to give the game back to Washington after taking a 14-0 lead, but their defense held strong at the end for Brian Daboll’s squad.

The Giants entered the game having not scored an offensive touchdown in over three games. Their scoreless streak ended 42 seconds into the second quarter on a 15-yard pass from Tyrod Taylor to Darren Waller.
The Giants then doubled down with another touchdown in the first half, this one a 32-yard touchdown toss from Taylor to Saquon Barkley. It was a two-yard dump-off that Barkley took to the house, showcasing just how much the Giants’ offense missed No. 26 during his three-game absence.
