  • Giants Beat Packers 24-22

    Giants Beat Packers 24-22

Like so many of the Giants’ wins over the last two years, this game was anything but a pretty one. This game was widely expected to be a loss for the Giants, but it wound up coming down to the wire following an unforced Saquon Barkley fumble late in the fourth quarter.

The Packers were able to score a late go-ahead touchdown, but an advised wide receiver run fell came up short on a two point conversion attempt.

A 32-yard throw, catch, and run from Tommy DeVito and Wan’Dale Robinson set the Giants up for the game-winning 36-yard field goal. DeVito went 4 of 4 for 53 yards on the game-winning drive.

The Giants have thrived off of turnovers over the last three weeks. They had six against the Washington Commanders, three against the New England Patriots, and another four (three takeaways and a turnover on downs) against the Packers. This game, Kayvon Thibodeaux forced a fumble on a  Jordan Love run, Jason Pinnock took advantage of a terrible decision for an interception, and the special teams came up with a muffed punt. They also benefitted from a missed field goal for a turnover on downs.

  • Jets Beat Texans 30-6

    Jets Beat Texans 30-6

If whatever was said in the New York Jets‘ locker room during the halftime break of Sunday’s Week 14 tilt against the Houston Texans, it could perhaps make millions on the motivational market.

After an imperfect opening half that featured punts on 11 of a dozen possessions, the Jets broke through for five scores over the latter half-hour en route to a 30-6 victory over Houston. Zach Wilson was responsible for two of the touchdowns through the air while Xavier Gipson ran in another.

With the win, the Jets (5-8) ended a five-game losing streak and scored three touchdowns in a single game for the first time since a November 2022 win over Chicago. The Jets also owned a three-possession lead for the first time this season.

Defenses ruled the way in the first 30, but an unlikely hero broke through on the scoreboard: in the capper of a seven-play, 75-yard drive to open the second half, Wilson found Randall Cobb from 15 away, accounting for the former Aaron Rodgers disciple’s first score as a Jet.

  • XFL Lost $60 Million, But Will Be Back!

XFL Lost $60 Million, But Will Be Back!

In 2021, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson teamed up with RedBird Capital and business partner Dany Garcia to buy the bankrupt XFL back after Vince McMahon folded the league when its 2020 season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

They made an agreement with Disney to air games across channels such as ESPN, FX, and ABC. The inaugural relaunch season happened this year with the Arlington Renegades defeating the DC Defenders in the championship game.

In an article by Forbes, it was noted the league lost an estimated $60 million this year after paying $23.5 million for it. Next season, the league projects $100 million in revenue, with about a quarter of its income coming from ESPN, which pays the league $20 million per season.

Garcia noted that she remains optimistic for the future of the league and they have capital commitments in place for years one through four with sponsorship deals with national brands, including Progressive and Under Armor.

  • Jets Lose 5th Straight

    Jets Lose 5th Straight

The Falcons are in first place in the NFC West. They beat a dismal Jets team in a game with little offense.

Desmond Ridder threw a touchdown in the first half and the Atlanta Falcons didn’t allow the New York Jets into the end zone at all during a 13-8 win at MetLife Stadium. The victory moves the Falcons to 6-6 on the season and pushes them ahead of the Saints in the division thanks to New Orleans’ loss to the Lions on Sunday.

The Jets tried to spark something offensively by replacing Tim Boyle with Trevor Siemian in the fourth quarter, but he was 5-of-13 for 66 yards and the game ended on a sack by Arnold Ebiketie on a fourth down with less than a minute to play.

With the Jets now 4-8, thoughts of an Aaron Rodgers return are likely all but extinguished if being alive in the playoff race is a true consideration.

The Falcons have a lot more to play with, although they’re going to need better offensive performances to finish the job. Ridder was 11-of-26 for 101 yards outside of a 20-yard touchdown to tight end MyCole Pruitt, they ran for 91 yards on 34 attempts and the Falcons punted on five of six second half possessions before kneeling out the clock.

  • Patriots Fall to Giants

    Patriots Fall to Giants

The New York Giants are officially on a winning streak, beating the New England Patriots on Sunday to the tune of 10-7.

This was anything but a pretty game, as two of the worst offenses in the NFL faced off.

Giants’ QB Tommy DeVito sought to keep the momentum going following a great showing last week against the Washington Commanders. Patriots’ starter Mac Jones, meanwhile, was simply looking to keep his job for another week.

While DeVito succeeded, Jones didn’t and was benched for Bailey Zappe.

Both defenses were active throughout the game, and it resembled a week ago for the Giants. While the opposing defense beat up Tommy DeVito, the Giants’ defense continued to be opportunistic. The Giants’ offense, meanwhile, was able to do just enough with the turnovers forced to get a win.

  • Jets Fall to Dolphins 34-13

    Jets Fall to Dolphins 34-13

The New York Jets have moved on from QB Zach Wilson, so Tim Boyle got the start in Week 12 against the Miami Dolphins.

The result was an offensive nightmare, with the Dolphins notching a 34-13 win.

The game looked like it would be ugly, and it met that expectation early. Miami’s offense leads the league in scoring and the Jets’ offense ranks 30th in points per game. But the Jets’ defense gave them a fighting chance when Brandin Echols picked off a pass from Tua Tagavailoa in the second quarter and put New York on the board.

That momentum didn’t last long. With no time remaining in the half, the Dolphins answered with a demoralizing 99-yard touchdown. Safety Jevon Holland intercepted Boyle’s Hail Mary attempt and ran it all the way to the house.

The second half wasn’t much better for the Jets, who at least got an offensive touchdown, but otherwise were agonizing on their way to a fourth straight loss.
